Rules for the Bird Bash


  1. Game is played 4 on 4 with no goal tenders

  2. If a puck goes in the net, out of bounds, or gets stuck under the pad, a new puck will be thrown in

  3. Games will be composed of one 30-minute game with a 3-minute warm-up

  4. There will be a 10-minute intermission between games (7-minute transition, and a 3-minute warmup

  5. Full equipment required. All players must wear helmets and hockey skates.

  6. No goalie equipment or goalie stick permitted

  7. Penalty shot will be taken from center ice. Anyone in the opposing team can take the shot. The team that is awarded the penalty shot will also be given possession of the puck following the penalty shot (regardless of the outcome of the shot).

  8. No slap shots

  9. Players cannot fall or lay on the ice in an effort to protect the goal area. Goaltending is not allowed. No “puppy guarding” the nets.

  10. There are not off-sides or icing calls

  11. Goals must be scored from the attacking side of center ice.

  12. Refereed will call out the score after each goal

  13. Teams must give their opponents ½ ice after a goal is scored or an infraction takes place.

  14. All games are running-time and substitutions can be made during play (“on-the-fly”) or while a puck is being retrieved. There is no stoppage of play.
